AWARD WINNING DESIGN FOR A SHOWROOM
Harmony in Design: A Pavilion of Public Toilets and Showroom at Casa Foa, Buenos Aires Located within the enchanting grounds of a grand villa overlooking the River Plate, this architectural gem served as a pavilion for public toilets and a showroom, proudly showcasing the sponsor company's products as part of the renowned Casa Foa architecture exhibition. Welcoming an annual influx of 500,000 visitors, the exhibition seamlessly integrated new structures with the historic villa and its ancillary buildings. A pedestrian mall, serving as the main artery of the exhibition, led visitors to the pavilion's graceful embrace. Despite a modest floor area, the pavilion's design defied its size, commanding a presence that harmonized with the grandeur of its surroundings. An elongated structure formed a fitting conclusion to the mall and prominently represented the sponsor, unifying the entire exhibition. The toilet facilities, housed within two imposing volumes on either side, flanked a central, glassed volume that not only provided access but defined the exhibition's central spine. Horizontal windows adorned the toilet volumes, ensuring privacy while inviting ample natural light and serene woodland vistas. Access to the pavilion was a delightful journey in itself, via a wooden bridge over a meandering stream that lent the pavilion an air of independence and unification within the larger exhibition complex. This remarkable pavilion served as a testament to the art of blending functionality with aesthetics in the world of architecture.
